Sim Banker #0.1

Sim Banker

#0.1 indeed!  Sans animation, any real situational responsiveness or any buttons to press here is the first-est version of the sim banker game.

press:
left
to drink & increase happiness
up to clean yourself up with the financial times
right to eat beluga caviar
down to invest in the stock markets

I’ll be implementing nice buttons for these at some point but these keypresses where nice and easy to implement for #0.1.

At the moment all actions cost 10 (thousand?) and investing is a simple game of chance with:

  • 1/6 chance of losing 20
  • 1/6 chance of losing 10
  • 3/6 chance of winning 20
  • 1/6 chance of winning 30

#0.2 will include responsive graphics with more rubbish / riches / pallidness / sadness depending on scores.  I also plan to replace the ugly text with pictures and ‘health’ bars.

Business Bits

business man bitsFor my next trick I will give you unprecedented access in to the mysterious world of ‘business’.

Look after your very own ‘business’ man, feed him stock options then clean up after him with the financial times! Perform more than 3 actions to make sure your ‘business’ man is kept in cigars and brandy!

Mustache included!!

JavaScript Fun #2 Tiny Crowd Jumping

Tiny People Jumping

Build it and they shall come!

As if one cute tiny little man jumping up and down randomly wasn’t enough (and I think I made it clear that it wasn’t enough) JavaScript has made all of my dreams come true by letting me build my very own crowd of randomly jumpy people.

The one in the red is totally checking you out!

Heres the code for this one if you are that way inclined:

On a more serious note… this doesn’t seem to be behaving so well remotely (compared to running off my machine locally) and if anyone has any tips on optimisation, especially regarding the loading of the images each time the instance of the person is drawn that would be grand!

JavaScript fun #1 – Tiny man jumping

Tiny manLook what I maded!

A tiny* man who jumps up and down randomly because of JavaScript. Click on him to see!

He looks so happy!

Now all I need is more tiny guys on the screen at once to jump up and down randomly…   what’s that little guys?  You’re all praising your benevolent maker?… awww, ok!

*I use the word tiny as a full admission to borrowing someone else’s lovely style – here’s looking at you www.nimblebit.com!

Here’s the JavaScript code I used!

Matt the Eagle Pirate!

It all started with one silly whiteboard drawing in tribute to one legendary man…

Matt the Pirate Eagle!

Matt the Pirate Eagle!

It took just one lunchtime to convert this into a piece of unfinished pixel art…

Matt the pixel eagle!and it ended, or at least plateaued, with a really stupid game knocked up as quickly as possible on a Saturday afternoon in Javascript / Canvas. Play Matt the Eagle Pirate!.

As you might tell we’re not quite done yet,  there just isn’t enough peril to keep Matt the Pirate Eagle occupied.  I also get the feeling that Matt the Eagle Pirate would appreciate a title screen, some screaming MIDI guitar to fly along to and his pixelated body to be finished!

Well I can’t do everything at once Matt the Eagle Pirate! All dedicated to the high champ overlord Mr Matt “Pay Check” Hendry!
